COURSE STRUCTURE

The 10 carefully selected modules will expose you to different general management perspectives to give you the expertise you need to help your organisation achieve and sustain a competitive advantage.

Candidates will have to complete 3 core units (25 credits) and 7 specialist units (95 credits) to obtain the Level 7 Extended
Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.

ASSESSMENT

Each unit is assessed on the basis of you satisfying designed learning outcomes. Your coursework/assignment is assessed by your module facilitator and then checked by an independent External verifier appointed by Pearson to grant the qualification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Admission into this course for applications not meeting the minimum requirements may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the college.

This qualification is available to anyone aged 24 and above and who is capable of reaching the required standards. Students need to demonstrate their ability through qualifications and/or experience which may be one of the following:

  • Recognised Bachelor’s degree; or
  • A Diploma with minimum 3 years of supervisory level working experience; or
  • Minimum 5 years work experience with no formal education/qualification; and
  • English proficiency: minimum IELTS Band 5.5 or its equivalent.

MODULE SYNOPSIS

1. Developing Strategic Management and Leadership Skills

This module investigates how current thinking on leadership influences an organisation’s planning to meet current and future leadership requirements. Candidates will understand the impact of management and leadership styles on strategic decisions in differing situations, through examining the competences and styles of successful leaders.

2. Professional Development for Strategic Managers

This module provides candidates with the methods and techniques to assess the development of their own skills to support the achievement of strategic direction through the analysis of current skills and the preparation and the implementation of a personal development plan.

3. Strategic Change Management
Candidates will develop an understanding of the models of strategic change and the role that stakeholders play in this process. They will then examine the need for change in a selected organisation and plan the implementation of a model for change.
4. Strategic Marketing Management

Strategic marketing is a way of focusing an organisation’s energies and resources on a course of action that can lead to increased sales and dominance of a targeted market. It combines product development, promotion, distribution, pricing, and other elements of marketing and identifies an organisation’s strategic marketing goals to explain how they will be achieved.

5. Strategic Human Resource Management

By examining human resource management, candidates will understand how human resource strategy and policies enable personnel to work in ways that contribute to the overall effectiveness of organisations in both the short and long term.

6. Strategic Quality and Systems Management

Candidates will look at the philosophies and practices that provide the theoretical knowledge for planning and implementing a quality programme and then consider the methods available to introduce a strategic quality change programme successfully.

7. Strategic Planning

Candidates will understand why it is important to develop a strategic vision and mission, establish objectives and decide on a strategy. Strategy and strategic plans map out where them organisation is headed, its short- and long-range performance targets, and the competitive moves and internal action required to achieve targeted business results.

8. Managing Financial Principles and Techniques

This module will give candidates a foundation in financial principles and techniques relevant to the strategic management process. Candidates will learn how to apply financial principles relevant to strategic management in an organisational context, including forecasting

9. Research Methods for Strategic Managers

This module provides candidates with an understanding of the methods and techniques used and required when carrying out formal research whilst addressing a variety of research methodologies. Candidates will understand the techniques, both quantitative and qualitative, used in research to analyse data.

10. Project Development and Implementation for Strategic Managers

This module provides candidates with the opportunity to integrate all the knowledge from their programme of learning by developing a project in which they plan and implement a new product, service or process.
